Lagoon-fringed atolls and over-water villas.
India's own tropical paradise, Lakshadweep is an archipelago of 36 coral atolls scattered across the Arabian Sea, 200–400 km off the Kerala coast. With lagoons of impossible turquoise, pristine coral reefs, and powdery white-sand beaches, it rivals the Maldives at a fraction of the price. Only 10 of the islands are inhabited, and tourism is carefully controlled, preserving an untouched marine ecosystem with some of the best snorkeling and diving in the Indian Ocean.
